Our chair, Vicky Foxcroft, and trustee Jayne Morgan have been working with students from Lewisham College to commission some new Deptford First artwork.

Vicky was keen to have some dedicated Deptford First stationery we could use for correspondence, so she and Jayne created a design brief and shared it with art and design students. Vicky also held a Zoom session with the students so that they could ask questions about what she was looking for.

The students went away and came up with some amazing designs, which the college submitted to the trustees. After much deliberation, the trustees decided to go with this brilliant abstract piece by Emily-Rose Markovic. We loved Emily-Rose's use of colour and the way she included Deptford's famous anchor.

Jayne then arranged to have notecards printed via the college. A great example of a charity working with local young people to not only create something beautiful and useful, but also give the students the opportunity to experience what it is like to work with a brief.

Deptford First thank you card. Abstract painting of water (mostly blues and greys, with some streaks of yellow and red). It is overlaid in the middle with a white banner displaying the words "Thank You". There are five black anchors hanging from the banner on black ropes of varying lengths.
